The 40-hour work week is toxic and disgusting.

Just because it’s been done this way forever, doesn’t mean it’s right and doesn’t mean it should continue being normalized.

Being forced to work in person while adhering to a 40-hour work week is f***ing sick. This entire cultural setup needs to be dismantled immediately.

Dismantling the agenda against remote work

Working eight hours a day with a 30 to 45 commute means you’re committing 10 hours of your day to your job… plus the time it takes to get out of bed and get ready to go.

You’re supposed to sleep for eight hours at night, so that leaves you with less than six hours to live your life freely.

Factor in dentist appointments, gym sessions, grocery shopping, and other necessary activities as well. You’re left with around three or four hours to relax and unwind.

THIS is why remote work is so beyond crucial for proper work-life balance.

Remote workers get their jobs done while maintaining their freedom of location. This means they can travel while earning money. What’s even better is that they don’t waste precious time on the road with a commute.

Every single minute of life is precious. Why should anyone waste their precious (and finite) minutes sitting in a car, staring at traffic?

Remote workers can choose to work at various locations that offer free Wi-Fi along with their friends, family, and loved ones who are also working remotely.

The only people who should work in person are doctors, nurses, construction workers, teachers, chefs, electricians, and people with hands-on careers.

If a job can be done from a laptop, why are corporations forcing people to sacrifice their freedoms by going to an office?

The people who seem obsessed with working in person are folks with outdated Boomer mentalities who don’t understand the concept of enjoying life outside of work.

They’re excited to “socialize” for eight hours a day with co-workers who are FORCED to be around them.

Picture Michael Scott from The Office. He had no social life outside of work, so he craved his time at the office.

Those of us who enjoy our lives outside of work are still socializing with our friends as we work remotely. We don’t need to be forced into an office space with strangers to experience human interactions.

Until in-person jobs offer 6-hour work days or 4-day work weeks without lowering salary rates, remote work is the only real solution to this ongoing work-life balance issue.

There’s a massive organization fighting for the 4-day work week right now, by the way. Millennials and Gen-Zers are clearly ready for change. Will we see it in our lifetime?

Business Insider says the majority of Americans are willing to take a 20% pay cut just so they can work from home!

If the majority of people feel this way, remote work needs to STOP being vilified. Remote work should be an option for everyone who doesn’t have a hands-on career.

And by the way… if the job is getting done, who gives a sh** where we’re doing it?
