Venture Smarter conducted an analyzation to find out which states across America are best for starting side hustles.
They took disposable income per capita, LLC filing fees, the number of remote workers, and internet speeds into account when coming up with their ranking.
Here’s what they found out.
The best states to start a side hustle
Maryland is a number one state to live in if you’re interested in starting a side hustle, according to Venture Smarter.
Next in line, you’ll find Connecticut followed by New Jersey. In fourth place, North Dakota is another great state to start a side hustle.

A spokesperson from Venture Smarter says, “Google Trends data shows that the United States’ interest in starting a business has grown by 92.31% over the last three months.
“This data provides a fascinating insight into the states whose residents are best placed to start a side hustle.
“It considers the economic conditions within each state, as well as other factors that are key to starting a business on a small scale, such as good internet speeds and the ability to work remotely.”
