There’s no denying that the 2012 Olympics were one of the most successful for United States swimming in history.

Missy Franklin played a huge role in this. What’s even more impressive is she did this while she was still in high school.

Allow her story of dedication and perseverance to motivate you for a moment. These are the details of her story.

Details about Missy Franklin

Missy captured four gold medals in this olympic and was thought of being the future of women’s swimming in the United States.

There were watch parties all around Denver and at her high school, Regis Jesuit, when she was racing.

She had one of the most impressive Olympics performances we’ve ever seen from a swimmer of any gender.

Missy opened up about her journey in an Instagram caption writing, “

It’s not a secret that the training you have to do to compete at the highest level is intense. It takes an abundance of dedication, resilience, grit, and sacrifice.

“But for me, it was also an abundance of FUN and JOY. I had people on more than one occasion tell me they thought I was putting on an act.

“That there was no way I was actually that happy and enjoying what I was doing that much. Then they met me, and saw it, and realized it wasn’t an act, it was true and authentic and real.

“I LOVED what I got to do every day. Not everyone has the opportunity to wake up every day and chase their dreams and get better at what they love.”

Her story serves as proof that hard work pays off. Dedicate yourself to your craft, and don’t give up.

Ignore naysayers. Most of the time, people who doubt you are simply ashamed they could never attempt the dreams you’re going after.

Hold yourself to a higher standard than that. Despite what anyone else might say or think about your aspirations, turn them into your reality. Missy is a great role model to look up to for this very reason.
