Here’s some advice about love and dating, straight from Halle Bailey!

The Little Mermaid actress has been in a serious relationship with DDG since the spring of 2022.

Their relationship has certainly stirred up opinions from fans who don’t entirely approve, but that hasn’t stopped the couple from doing their best to make it work. On January 6, 2024, they even welcomed their first-born child into the world.

Halle knows a thing or two about making it in Hollywood as a successful musician. Let’s see if she knows a thing or two about relationship advice.

Here’s a roundup of her best gems.

First, be protective of the person you’re in love with.

According to People via Yahoo, Halle said, “I’m a fire sign … If I love you and somebody crosses you, it’s over. That’s been my stance since I was young.”

From her perspective, it’s crucial to step up and be there to protect the people you love the most.

This advice from Halle is solid whether you’re a fire sign or not.

Second, keep the details of your relationship private in honor of your mental health.

According to Vibe, Halle said, “I appreciate that as I venture into adulthood, I’m able to make my own decisions. For my peace and my sanity, I have to keep [my love life] private.”

In other words, Halle suggests keeping the details of your love story as low-key as possible to make sure your mental health status stays in a good place.

When too many people know too many things about your relationship, it can lead to a boat load of unnecessary drama.

Third, don’t worry about unwarranted opinions from outsiders.

According to Hot New Hip Hop, Halle said, “The biggest thing I’ve learned in dating when it comes to dating in the public eye, is that everybody’s gonna have an opinion about you, whether it’s good or bad.”

Her wise words are a reminder that radical acceptance may always come in handy. It’s time to radically accept that people are going to have their own thoughts about what you do, who you date, and how you love.

It’s simply up to you to avoid worrying about those incoming opinions as they float your way.

Fourth, be there for your partner through their trials and tribulations.

In Halle’s ballad “In Your Hands,” she sings, “Whenever you’re down and suffering I promise that I’ll be your only friend. ‘Cause I know that the demons come knockin’. But we will never ever let ’em in.”

The words of this song are a stark reminder that your partner deserves to feel safe and loved when they’re with you.

They might feel down and out every once in a while, but your presence in their life may be the golden light that lifts them up.

Fifth and finally, choose a partner who cherishes you and sees your value.

Halle once tweeted, “Someone who loves & appreciates you” with tons of more-than symbols.

It was her way of saying that dating a partner who loves and appreciates you is more incredible than anything else in the world.

If your partner sees you as mediocre, basic, boring, or replaceable, then there’s a chance they don’t exactly care about the longevity of your love story.

A partner who cherishes you and sees your value is the ideal partner to choose since they already inherently understand your worth.
