We’re still impatiently waiting for Season Three of Euphoria, which isn’t projected to start production until 2025.

In the meantime, let’s take a deep dive into how actress Alexa Demie relates to the fictional character she plays on the HBO Max show.

On Euphoria, Alexa plays Maddy, a popular teenage girl who deals with betrayal and heartbreak when her best friend and ex-boyfriend start hooking up with each other.

Does Alexa resonate with the character at all? Here’s what you should know.

Alexa Demie‘s thoughts on Maddy

If you thought Alexa had everything in common with Maddy on Euphoria, you’d be completely incorrect.

It turns out that Alexa was a lot different when she was a high school student.

According to Wonderland Magazine, Alexa described herself compared to Maddy saying, ”Oh my God, the complete opposite. It’s funny, because I think everyone assumes that I was a cheerleader or hung out with football players. I was quite a loner and had a lot of trouble with girls. I was bullied probably from elementary school all throughout high school; sometimes I’d leave early to avoid certain situations. I was in the performing arts program in senior year and I only had one or two classes, so I’d go straight home and work on my sunglasses.”

It’s hard to picture someone who’s as stunning and confident as Alexa dealing with bullies or feeling isolated on a school campus, but the reality is that she experienced those things when she was growing up.

Alexa also opened up about the way she sees Maddy’s interactions with other onscreen characters like Rue Bennett and Cassie Howard.

As a reminder, Rue is played by the legendary Zendaya and Cassie is played by the breathtaking Sydney Sweeney.

Alexa told Entertainment Weekly, “Her instinct isn’t to distrust Rue, Maddy has always liked Rue and has had empathy for her. She knows everyone’s messed up in their own ways and she doesn’t ever want to judge her, [so] in that moment it’s very easy for her to trust Rue. She also knows when Cassie is lying. Maddy may ignore a lot of things in her life that she doesn’t want to face, but she’s intuitive and intelligent.”

Of course, Alexa was referencing the fact that Rue is a character who struggles with substance-abuse and addiction while Cassie is a character who struggles with insecurity and emotional immaturity.
