If you’re curious to know exactly how Selena Gomez started her career, the early 2000s was definitely a necessary era for her.
Here’s what you should know about Selena‘s start in the entertainment industry and how it allowed her to reach the levels of success she’s at today.
Deets on Selena’s start
The year was 2002. Selena landed the role of Gianni on Barney and Friends as a child actress. Adorably enough, her ex-best friend Demi Lovato, landed a role in the show by her side.
They starred in episodes of Barney & Friends together until 2004. Barney has reputation for being one of the best kid-friendly shows ever focused on a purple dinosaur with all his dinosaur friends.
Barney also had human friends, and Selena played one of them.
After that, it was easier for Selena to catch attention from executives for other roles in her childhood including Spy Kids in 2003, What’s Stevie Thinking in 2005, and Brain Zapped in 2006.
After that, she landed small roles in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Hannah Montana before becoming the lead in her own Disney Channel show, Wizards of Waverly Place.
That same year, she also starred in Princess Protection Program. It’s easy to support an actress like Selena since it seems that she’s been steady taking parts in shows and movies that have solidified her superstardom for so many years.
Memorizing lines isn’t an easy task, but it’s something she’s been able to do with sassiness and classiness.
As of right now, the role people love seeing Selena in is Only Murders in the Building, which premiered in 2021.
Emilia Perez is a Spanish-speaking film that also has Selena fans talking since she has a leading role.
The art of acting definitely has Selena‘s heart, and she’s spoken up about that.
On her recent appearance on a podcast called SmartLess, Selena said, “I wanted to be an actress. I never really intended on being a singer full-time, but apparently, that hobby turned into something else.”
Music is another avenue Selena’s fans are obsessed with since she has a long list of hits songs people enjoy listening to, but that doesn’t mean Selena is super stoked about spending time in music studios.
From her perspective, acting is something she’d rather focus on and pursue. This is something her most devoted fans will have to be understanding of!
Since acting is such a big deal for Selena, it’s been wonderful that she’s raked in so many awards over the course of her career so far.
She’s taken home the Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Hottie, the People’s Choice Award for Comedy TV Star, the Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Female TV Star, and the Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Series Comedy or Musical. Just to name a few.
