Why do some of Sabrina Carpenter fans feel like they’re getting “the ick“ from Barry Keoghan?
Sabrina and Barry’s whirlwind romance has been the talk of the town since they first started dating!
Unfortunately, not everyone is super excited about their love story. Tons of people are completely unimpressed and actually, some are even bothered by it.
By that same token, others are super supportive of this union.
Here’s a breakdown of why some of Sabrina’s fans are totally getting the ick from Barry.
One social media user commented, “The fact he’s neglecting his child to hop around the globe with his new girlfriend gives me a major ick. Geez, he is still so talented as an actor though.”
As a reminder, Barry shares a young son with his ex-girlfriend, Alyson Sandro.
Someone else who’s bothered by Barry’s behaviors commented, “It’s been said before but I’ll say it again, globe-trotting with your new girlfriend while your ex-girlfriend is looking after your baby, is undeniably selfish whichever way you put it.”
Another person who feels disappointed in Sabrina wrote, “The fact that Sabrina is with someone who does that gives me the ick.”
A separate fan quickly responded to that by saying, “Let men answer for their own crimes.”
Another fan clapped back by saying, “Eh, I think we should definitely be judged by the company we keep. Birds of a feather and all that.”
Someone else who feels a bit bit more defensive of Barry joined the chat to say, “To be fair he’s in the same country as his child. How do we know that he isn’t with him right now just because he’s also with Sabrina? Not defending him being in America for a couple of weeks at a time while his kid is in the UK, but I’m just saying that we can’t really know that he’s not with the kid, just because the kid’s not in every photo.”
Another Barry supporter commented, “I think the egg against Barry comes from a mixture of several things. Firstly the Ethan Slater shiz is influencing people’s perceptions, they’re seeing Ethan’s actions in Barry. Secondly, most Sabrina fans are Swifties and need and love drama.”
They mentioned Ethan Slater, whose relationship with Ariana Grande has been heavily critiqued in recent months.
Ethan ended things with his ex-wife, Lily Jay, even though they share a young child together as well.
Since then, he’s been photographed living his best life with Ariana as his new girlfriend.
It’s possibly true that Sabrina‘s fans are drawing tons of parallels between Sabrina and Ariana, which means they’re also equally negatively judging Barry in comparison to Ethan.
Ultimately, some of Sabrina‘s fans claim to have the ick from Barry because they feel like he isn’t showing up as a dad or handling his fatherly duties.
Others don’t feel like it’s fair to judge Barry based on a few paparazzi pictures of him on dates with Sabrina because there’s a probable chance he’s still handling his fatherly duties behind closed doors where paparazzi cameras aren’t snapping photos.
