The winter season is known for drying skin out! Cold weather leaves folks feeling chapped AF.

Skincare advice during winter

According to them, too much change simply isn’t a good thing! “I wouldn’t recommend completely overhauling your skincare routine just because the weather changes,” advises Dr Anshul Gambhir. “What’s more important is developing an understanding of your skin, how it responds to different environments and products and making small, thoughtful adjustments to help it adapt.”

They also note that you should never skip using your SPF, even if you don’t see much visible sunshine outside. “UVA rays penetrate clouds and glass, meaning your skin is exposed even on overcast winter days or while indoors near windows,” Dr. Vibha Gambhir explains.

Another tip? Keep your skin shielded from water contact as much as possible. “Immediately after drying, apply your skincare or body lotion to damp skin to lock in hydration and keep it soft and supple. This simple practice is especially important in winter when environmental factors make it harder for your skin to maintain its natural moisture balance,” adds Dr Vibha.

Seeking out professional skin treatment during the winter is a great idea, too. “During summer, increased sun exposure before or after these treatments can heighten the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, “Dr Vibha explains. “The cooler months on the other hand offer reduced UV exposure, making it easier to protect healing skin from harmful rays. This creates a safer environment for treatments that renew and rejuvenate the skin, such as peels to improve texture or laser therapy to address pigmentation and fine lines” she concludes.

Staying hydrated is an obvious gem of advice, even if it might sound cliche.

Folks with sensitive skin should be far more careful during winter.

On top of that, you shouldn’t drink too much alcohol since it will dry you out!
