Remember the last time a loved one did something nice for you, like a home-cooked meal, and you said “thank you,” and their face lit up like a light bulb, illuminating a warm glow?

Not only did they feel good, but so did you. This, my friends, is the power of gratitude.

It’s actually very interesting to think of how a simple  “thank you for” or  I really appreciate” can drastically improving the quality of your relationships, but yes, it is true.

Here’s what gratitude does for your relationships.

Improves positive communication

By showing gratitude, you not only reinforce your loved one’s efforts but also set the ball rolling on positive communication.

Your loved one will feel appreciated and, as a result, will also be more appreciative and communicative.

Now there’s positive energy being communicated.

Fosters emotional connection

Remember the warm gooey feeling that both the receptor and giver get after a gratitude gesture? That fosters a feeling of closeness and intimacy.

Encourages reciprocity and kindness

Who doesn’t feel the need to buy a gift after receiving one?

We don’t just do this out of obligation but rather a feeling of wanting to reciprocate their kindness and thoughtfulness.

How you can show gratitude to your loved one

  • A simple “thank you.”
  • A heartfelt letter.
  • A warm squishy hug.
  • Spending quality time with them.
  • A thoughtful gift.
  • A lovely meal.

The next time someone does something nice for you no matter how big or small remember to say “thank you” – it matters!

And thank you for reading this post.
