There’s no denying the fact that Love is Blind and Married at First Sight are two VERY similar reality TV shows.

In fact, tons of people can’t even tell the shows apart since the plot lines are so comparable.

The truth of the matter is that Love is Blind and Married at First Sight are incredibly different for a multitude of reasons.

The premise of each show is meant to shed light on love that isn’t based on physical attraction. Here’s a breakdown of why these two hits are NOT actually the same at all.

The difference between Love is Blind and Married at First Sight

via Netflix and Lifetime

The first thing to note about Love is Blind and Married at First Sight is that they come from two completely different networks.

Love is Blind is a Netflix original series while Married at First Sight is a lifetime original series. This can get a bit confusing since Netflix hosts different seasons of Married at First Sight on its platform every once in a while.

The second thing to note is that Love is Blind features couples “dating” each other in pods, where they can’t lay eyes on each other.

They have to fall in love with each other based on personality traits, flowing conversations, senses of humor, and everything else that isn’t exactly appearance-based.

Once couples fall in love with each other on Love is Blind, they get engaged in the pods before the big reveal where they can finally see each other in person for the first time.

Then, they proceed to spend time in each others’ presence leading up to their wedding day.

On their wedding days, they get the chance to either say “I do” come together in marriage or “I don’t,” meaning they’re calling it quits on the spot.

Married at First Sight, on the other hand, features couples who get matched together by a team of professional “experts.”

The experts do their best to pair couples who seem compatible and make a lot of sense together on paper.

These couples don’t get a chance to spend time together in any capacity before saying “I do” at the alter. They have to marry each other on the spot!

These couples then must spend several weeks together, deciding if they want to stay locked into their marriages or get divorced.

In some cases, the couples choose to remain married. In other cases, they reveal that a divorce is what makes the most sense.

The biggest difference is that on Love is Blind, couples get to experience the crucial phase of hanging out and being engaged before making the ultimate decision to get married.

Married at First Sight is a lot more serious and dramatic since it all begins on the official wedding day at the alter.
