There’s no reason to stress out about your wedding cake if you know the right tips and tricks to keep up with.

Wedding cakes can be incredibly expensive if you buy them from professional bakeries. In fact, the average cost of a wedding cake in the United States is around $350, according to Thumbtack.

Some people spend way more money than that on their wedding cakes, though. We’re talking about anywhere ranging near $1,000 or more.

Instead of spending that much money on your wedding cake, think about cutting corners instead with some creativity.

You might think it’s incredibly tacky to turn a store-bought cake into your wedding cake, but the truth is that no one who attends your wedding will know any better.

Purchase a few cheap cakes from your local grocery store that can easily be stacked on top of each other in tiers.

You and your fiancé can narrow down the flavor options or get creative by allowing each layer to be a different flavor.

For example, layer one can be vanilla, layer two can be chocolate, and layer three can be red velvet. Otherwise, there’s no harm in keeping all the layers the same flavor.

Simply make sure you’re finding store-bought pieces of cake that will work well together once you take them home.

After the layers of store-bought cake have been stacked on each other, you can scrape off the original icing to be replaced with the icing of your choice. You can also add different layers of fruit including strawberries and blueberries.

Tons of wedding cakes are covered in fancy flowers. Have fun with that if that’s what you prefer. Don’t forget to add a cake topper as well.

If you’re not feeling too confident about this idea, there’s no shame in practicing! Even if you buy two or three sets of cakes to get some practice in, it will end up being much cheaper than utilizing services from a professional bakery.
