Tory Lanez was officially found guilty of shooting the hip-hop superstar Megan Thee Stallion after a Los Angeles party July in 2020.

The Candian rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of three felony counts.

Tory, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, shot Megan after a party that was hosted at the Hollywood Hills home of reality star Kylie Jenner on July 12, 2020.

Social media users just can’t agree about this case

Before the trial, the case was heavily discussed on social media, and in music released by both rappers.

On an album released in 2020, (more than two months after the incident) Tory clapped back against Megan’s account of what went down.

She continually defended herself on Instagram, in interviews, and with her song, ”Shots Fired”.

Days after the shooting, Megan posted on her Instagram account that she had “suffered gunshot wounds” that required surgery but did not provide more details.

After gossip and speculation, she later said the shooter was Tory, who had been arrested and charged with concealing a firearm in the vehicle.

Tory talked about the situation in a song that suggested a different account. The lyrics said, “We both know what happened that night and what I did, but it ain’t what they sayin’.’’

After almost three years, a jury convicted Tory who of three felony charges in December: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence (NBC NEWS).

His charges came after he pleaded not guilty.

Some people on social media are on Tory’s side, while others on Megan’s. The rift between people who can’t see eye to eye doesn’t seem to be one that will be healed anytime soon.
