After building an entire brand on body positivity, Lizzo has seemingly flipped the script – depending on what you choose to believe.
Empowerment and self-love used to be things she loudly preached, but the legal troubles she’s in say she isn’t exactly the person the world thought she was.
A breakdown of Lizzo’s legal issues
A lawsuit against Lizzo claims she fostered a hostile work environment for her employees and engaged in sexual deviancy.
Lizzo is adamantly denying all claims against her, but questions about her behavior are still being asked by many.
Plus-sized women and women of color are feeling especially disappointed by these new emerging details.
Three women who once served as backup dancers for Lizzo are accusing her of serious misconduct.
They also filed against dance team captain Shirlene Quigley and Lizzo’s production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc.
Claims that Lizzo judged dancers for gaining weight and pushed another dancer so hard that she soiled herself have been publicized.
At least nine more dancers have come forward with complaints since mid August 2023, according to People.
Lizzo shared a post on Instagram to fight back against all the negative talk. She said, “
These last few days have been gut wrenching Lee, difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals, and respect on this have been question. My character has been criticized.”
The “Truth Hurts” singer went on to say that the allegations against her are false, but still need to be addressed based on how outrageous and sensationalized they are.
Fans will have to wait and see how things play out in court to learn the truth.
