If you’ve seen the video of Miley Cyrus’s song, “Used to Be Young” you can see the emotion within her.
Living in the public eye causes people to have certain expectations toward celebrities.
The judgment that is bestowed upon them is often unfair, but to be expected. The rage behind this song speaks volumes about where she’s at in life right now.
The many sides of Miley
Many of us have grown up with Miley. From the sweet, innocent girl we all met as Hannah Montana to her controversial twerk with Robin Thicke, we have seen many sides of the famous singer.
Exactly 10 years to the day after that scandalous twerk session, Miley released “Used to be Young.”
It is a beautifully written song that has helped Miley say goodbye to the careless, younger version of herself while also embracing that prior version of herself.
Relatable
Every person on this planet has made mistakes in their life. We’ve all had a night or two with the ladies just discussing our regrets or the things we would’ve done differently in our younger years.
So, Miley’s release of this new single, isn’t only emotional, but it’s extremely relatable.
I think it gives the public eye a different view of Miley. It is clear that she has matured and she is entering a new season in her life.
From the mouth of Miley
Allegedly, this song has been a work in progress for almost two years.
In an article written by American Songwriter, Miley states, “It was at a time I felt misunderstood. I have spent the last 18 months painting a sonic picture of my perspective to share with you. The time has arrived to release a song that I could perfect forever.”
Forever changing
Miley acknowledges that growth is never ending. While she has written and released the song, she admits that she could change the lyrics daily.
Personally, I feel like we could all learn a lesson from this song. Specifically, to never regret the paths we’ve taken in life.
Just like Miley, we’ve gotten this far and we will only continue to grow.
