An hour and a half southwest of Nashville is the quiet town of Hohenwald. Sadly, Hohenwald is where the famed explorer Meriwether Lewis died of a gunshot wound.

One way the town honors him is with the Meriwether Lewis Park and Monument. This beautiful area was dedicated in his memory so that those who visit can remember him for being so instrumental to the United States.

Those with families should make sure they visit the Elephant Discovery Center. This museum provides visitors with a hands-on experience teaching them about how important elephants are to the world.

Fall Hallow hiking trail is a great way to get out and explore the beauty Tennessee has to offer.

These small towns give travelers of all ages more of a reason to head down to Tennessee.
