The music video for “In Your Hands” by Halle Bailey landed on YouTube just a couple of days ago.

It’s already raked in more than 1.7 million views on the video-sharing platform. Halle released the song as an ode to the newborn son she shares with rapper, DDG.

As of now, music lovers have a lot to say about the heartfelt ballad. Her fans seem to be divided.

Most fans love Halle’s new song – but not everyone

A tweet from a Twitter user named @Strawberrryboy has gone viral. He reposted a clip of Halle‘s song and asked, “Who is her audience? Does she even know?”

The tweet pulled in 15,000 likes from people who seemingly agree with him.

The devotional ballad is filled with notes of electric guitar and piano. The lyrics tell a metaphorical story of enduring love.

Does the song wholeheartedly fit into the R&B category, though? The answer is no, but that doesn’t mean Halle’s R&B fans aren’t still going to bat for her.

Some fans have mentioned that Halle’s audience is similar to Willow Smith’s audience. As a reminder, Willow released the song “Meet Me at Our Spot” in 2020. It had an alternative vibe that didn’t perfectly fit into the R&B category either.

Others are convinced that this song sounds just like all the music Halle used to release with her older sister, Chloe Bailey, when they performed as a duo.

The most common message people are writing on social media is that Halle has such a versatile voice, she should never feel boxed into any one musical genre.
