Selena opened up with The Wrap about creating Mabel as a character with the show’s creators saying, “Being an executive producer on this was a lovely surprise. Because from the beginning, they were open to the idea of me being a part of creating Mabel.”

She continued, “We just ended up talking about all these different stories of mysteries and the idea of me being into (true crime) as a character. How would I dress? How would I say that? And now, being a part of it, I’m able to say, ‘I don’t feel like that sounds OK.’ Even down to certain scenes.”

Ultimately, it’s safe to say Selena feels super connected to Mabel since a lot of her real personality shows up on screen while she’s filming every episode.

The luxury of feeling super connected with a fictional character you’re portraying on screen isn’t something every actor or actress has the chance to experience.

In other projects Selena has been part of, she hasn’t always likely had the opportunity to showcase her real personality as part of the show.

Since Selena is such a beloved actress, it makes sense that the creators would want as much of her personality to be on display as possible.
