Nestled inside the continent of Oceania is the scenic island country of New Zealand, discovered by the Māori people.

This Pacific Island contains so many wonderful things to enjoy. Here’s what you should know about two of the blissful small towns.

Oamaru

Oamaru has a population of 14,000 and this small town is full of activity. The cityscape reveals its rich history.

The streets are lined with 19th-century Victorian architecture. The Victorian heritage of the city is celebrated annually in November.

This quaint city has a penguin colony featuring some of the smallest penguins in the world. This is also home to the world’s rarest penguin the yellow-eyed penguin.

This city is the perfect place to walk or ride a bike, as there are beautiful views of the sea.

Wānaka

The tiny town of Wānaka is home to just 12,150 residents, and although it is small there is plenty to see and do! Lake Wānaka sets the scene as it is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, forests and more.

During Summer there are plenty of outdoor activities from mountain biking to rock climbing and even skydiving for the brave of heart. 

For a picture perfect spot, stop by the Wānaka Lavender Farm which is open all year. There are also wineries, boat cruises and wonderful views all over the city. It is the perfect town to visit anytime of year.
