Picture this: You are finally going on a date with your crush for the first time after weeks of texting. Yay!

Now, you want to make a great impression… especially if you like them and want a second, third, and fifth date with them.

First dates can be one of the most nerve-racking and awkward moments of your life. Throw a less-than-ideal location into the mix and you have a disaster waiting to happen.

While some spots are only romantic and fun in theory, they can leave you with embarrassing memories you’d rather forget.

So, before you fix that date, check out some of the worst places to go on a first date.

The movies

Sounds romantic in the books – meet someone new, go to the movies on your first date, kiss in the dark cinema and live happily ever after.

In reality, it’s an awful idea. How do you get to know them if you’re going to sit in silence in the dark for almost two hours?

Either of your homes

Why would you think meeting someone you barely know in their home or yours seems like a great idea?

First dates are best suited for neutral places like a restaurant and a coffee shop. You can Netflix and chill at home after you have built some level of trust.

Going for a quick burger might seem cheaper and more convenient but as far as first impressions go, it shows a lack of effort.

There’s nothing romantic about shoving greasy fries into your mouth sitting next to screaming children.

A bar

Except you want to ditch the whole get-to-know-you-more thing going on and going straight to getting wasted and hooking up, bars aren’t great first date locations.

Plus getting drunk with someone you barely know leaves you vulnerable and imposes on your safety.

A museum

No-one wants to bond over ancient artifacts or mummy remains on the first date. First date jitters plus the quietness of the museum – awkward!

The club

Clubs are many things but never the best place to have get-know-you conversations. Crowded, loud, sweaty, more partying and less talking ….bad idea.
