Millions of visitors make their way to Yellowstone National Park each year.

Amazingly enough, this gorgeous area almost had a different fate. It’s home to some of the most amazing geysers in the world.

Watching one of these natural water spouts is on the bucket list of tons of people who enjoy the outdoors. The park spans three different states, which means there’s plenty to explore.

It’s normal to think about putting Yellowstone near the top of your travel list for the year, but there might just be a better option to visit.

Soda Springs, Idaho is roughly two and a half hours north of Salt Lake City, the closest major city with an easily accessible airport.

The town boasts a strikingly similar version of Yellowstone and is home to something you can only see there.

Soda Springs, Idaho is home to Geyser Park, home to a captive geyser

The trek to get to Soda Springs, Idaho isn’t too bad, especially if you fly into Salt Lake City.

Once you arrive in Soda Springs, you’ll be greeted by Geyser Park, one of the most unique parks in the world.

It’s here where you’ll find plenty of outdoor hiking and some of the most amazing scenery in the world.

Geyser Park also manages the nature in the surrounding area, unlike how Yellowstone has handled wild animals like bison – which has led to a lawsuit.

You’ll also stumble across something that’s one-of-a-kind in the world, a captive geyser.

This is a geyser that was accidentally created.

The water eruptions are controlled by a timer, so you’ll know exactly when to stand in front of the hole.

At Yellowstone, you don’t know when the geysers will erupt.

The chance of a hydrothermal explosion could also happen, which you might not even realize is going on.

Considering how quick most folks’ attention spans are these days, knowing exactly when the water is going to come out of the hole is actually quite convenient.

You don’t have to spend your entire day sitting around and waiting.

Planning lunch near the geyser and getting on with the day is a dream for most folks.
