So, you’re thinking about taking the next step with your partner.

They’ve asked you to move in with them, which leaves you feeling excited and full of hope.

While those feelings are perfectly natural and okay, it’s also important to ask some questions before fully embracing the next part of your journey together.

Asking these five questions can help save you in the future.

How clean are you?

Odds are, you probably already know how clean your partner is based on the times you’ve visited their place.

However, who’s to say they didn’t clean everything up right before you got there?

Cleanliness and tidiness are two things that can literally make or break a relationship.

If someone isn’t clean, it will likely wear you down as time goes on.

If someone is too clean, they might freak out on you if one little thing is out of place.

Making sure your partner matches your freak when it comes to keeping things clean is vital for any successful relationship.

What’s your daily routine?

This is also something you probably already have a general idea about when it comes to your partner, but be ready to see that daily routine put into practice.

There’s a massive difference between getting a “Good morning” text at 5 am and actually being next to the person when their alarm sounds off at that time.

Being there for every dog walk after work is something you’d also have to get used to, if it’s applicable to your partner.

Let’s say every Wednesday your partner has a meal you aren’t a fan of.

You’ll have to get ready to either eat out or cook your own food that day.

Regardless, daily routines for people seem drastically different when you’re part of it on a daily basis.

Ensuring someone’s daily routine won’t put you in misery is important for your own mental health.

Do you plan on moving out of your current spot in the near future?

Imagine moving in with someone, only to find that they’re thinking of moving in the next couple of months.

Now, this might not be the worst thing in the world, as it would mean you’d be getting your own place together.

But let’s say you like where they live and want to stay, it’s important to know where their headspace is when it comes to moving.

Moving isn’t something that magically happens overnight, either.

You have to find the right spot, make sure it’s near what you like, get the right price point, and only then pack up all of your stuff and haul it to the new place.

Unless you’re someone who loves living in a new place every year or so, make sure your partner has plans to stay in their spot for a decent amount of time.

What activities and restaurants are near you?

One of the most important parts of finding a new home is making sure there are plenty of fun things to do in your area.

The last thing you want to do is move in with your partner and have to drive 20 minutes each way to something fun.

You also don’t want to be too far away from your friends and family when you move in with your partner.

Making sure there’s plenty of fun activities around will make the transition as smooth as possible.

It will also help ensure there are tons of date nights and fun activities in your future when you’re living together.

Will we both fit and not crowd over each other?

The last, and arguably most important, question to ask is if there’s enough space for both of you.

Imagine sharing a smaller spot with someone, and you end up crowding over each other.

Chances are, your relationship won’t survive if this happens.

You’ll have to find new ways to not be up in each other’s business all the time if your partners’ space is too small.

The size of an apartment or home is important, especially when it comes to merging lives together.

What are your thoughts on these questions. What else would you want to know before moving in with your partner? Let us know in the comments.
