This simple ingredient is the base for almost every pumpkin recipe. You can bake or boil your pumpkins and then blend them into a smooth purée or buy a pre-made version to save time and effort.

Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generatorcommented on the findings: “With fall in full swing, pumpkins are everywhere, from pies and breads to lattes and soups. Yet each year in the U.S., over 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins are sent to landfills. That’s a lot of food, nutrients, time and resources going to waste.

“Cooking with pumpkin is one of the simplest ways to cut that waste while harvesting all its benefits. Pumpkin is low in calories but rich in fiber, vitamins A, C, and E, minerals, and antioxidants, great for eye health, immunity, and skin.

“And beyond human consumption, there are creative ways we can use the whole pumpkin: donating them to farms for animal feed, composting, or using the flesh, seeds, and even skins in recipes. It’s a versatile ingredient with real health, environmental, and economic value. Whether you go sweet or savory, there are countless ways to enjoy your pumpkin without contributing more to the landfill.”
