I can’t listen to music from the new generation of pop girl without considering the influence Lana Del Rey had on all of them.
I’ve been a longtime fan of Lana, and the reality is that most pop girlies have cited her as their own inspiration when it comes to the music they create and release.
Even modern starlets in pop culture like Sydney Sweeney and Kylie Jenner, who don’t make pop music, have cited their love for Lana and have lived their lives in ways that reflect true Lana energy.
I’ve seen people like Olivia Rodrigo, Sydney Sweeney, Sabrina Carpenter, Kylie Jenner, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, and even Taylor Swift draw pages from Lana‘s book by viewing her as the ultimate blueprint.
So let’s go down the list of girls I just named. Starting with Olivia Rodrigo.
Olivia Rodrigo
Music from Olivia is undeniably fun to listen to since she’s relatable to fans of all ages. Whether you’re 13 years old or 33 years old, there’s a chance that there are multiple songs from her discography you connect with. That’s exactly how I feel about her, because why was I dealing with the lyrics of Drivers License when I was in my late 20s? Olivia has been super outspoken about celebs who’ve inspired her, including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Kacey Musgraves, Alanis Morissette, Lorde, and Gwen Stefani. But Lana is definitely on her list when it comes to musicians who heavily influenced her and her sound. She spoke highly of Lana to the Hollywood reporter, saying, “She defies any stereotypes of what a woman writing pop songs should or shouldn’t be. She’s constantly pushing boundaries and making work that is fresh, adventurous, and unabashedly feminine.”
Sydney Sweeney
Sydney Sweeney is not a musician, but she is definitely a diehard fan of Lana Del Rey, and we’ve seen evidence of that based on the way Sydney frequently uses Lana’s music and her social media posts. And the mutual appreciation between them seems to be very real. They were spotted at a holiday party together at the end of 2025. Some of the popular Lana songs Sydney has used from Lana’s discography include The Other Woman, Black Beauty, and Radio. Lana is a true poet, and the lyrics of her songs reflect that, so it’s cool to me to see that Sydney appreciates and respects that. Lana’s music videos have often shed light on the idea of age gap relationships, with Lana paired up with much older men, so it’s highly possible that Sydney drew a bit of inspiration from Lana’s book since the men Sydney dates happen to be significantly older than her. Sydney‘s ex-fiancé, Jonathon Davino, was 14 years older than her, and her current boyfriend, Scooter Braun, is 16 years older than her.
Kylie Jenner
Just like Sydney Sweeney, Kylie also isn’t a popstar, but I feel I’ve noticed the way she has drawn inspiration from Lana over the years. Kylie proved she’s been a fan of Lana for a long time. Based on the Money tweets she used to post about Lana back in the day, around 2013. She posted her appreciation for Lana’s songs, and one time she outright tweeted, “Lana Del Rey got me through a lot. Can’t forget my baby.” From my perspective, it’s obvious Kylie is a true fan of Lana, and in some recent TikTok posts, she’s used Lana songs as backtracks, including Cherry, Say Yes to Heaven, and West Coast. I feel like Kylie‘s mysterious, super chic energy reminds me a lot of Lana. You might think Kylie is the type to lean into overexposure more than anything else, but you have to remember that just because she posts on social media frequently, she rarely ever sits down for interviews, she rarely shows up to film episodes of her family’s reality TV show, and she doesn’t really give fans personality privileges anymore after years of being scrutinized. She shares a lot of that vibe in common with Lana.
