Celebrity impersonators are running rampant across social media platforms.
Scammers are pretending to be celebrities to check people into making faulty investments, sending money transfers, and more.
Here’s what Trevor Cooke, Privacy Expert at EarthWeb, has to say about everything.
Prepare yourself to avoid celebrity impersonators and scammers

The most common celebs being used by scam artists include Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, and Kevin Costner.
Beyond that, you might find celebrity impersonators, pretending to be Elon Musk, Al Roker, Margot Robbie, Bad Bunny, or America Ferrera.
When a scammer messages you from a fake celebrity profile, they’ll offer things like fake investment opportunities, phishing scams to get your sensitive information, or worse.
In the case of phishing scams, they will ask questions about your social media passwords, credit card numbers, and bank details.
Bogus giveaways also exist where scammers will set up a fake giveaway contest well pretending to be a famous celebrity.
The form people fill out to participate in the giveaway will require them to fill out personal information or download apps with no actual prize in existence – Never do this!
Tips for staying safe against celebrity impersonators

Some of the tips you can keep up with to keep yourself armed and safe from this issue include verifying the legitimate mess of offers you receive and refusing to click on any suspicious links.
You should also be super cautious of any unsolicited messages you receive refrain from giving away any information.
Two-factor authentication is crucial. Additionally, you should also avoid streaming or downloading anything illegally.
